Grenville Acts are adopted in London.

Parliament approves two bills placing restrictions on the Colonists. They are named for British Prime Minister Sir George Grenville, who, along with his predecessor, John Stuart, Earl of Bute, believed that the colonies were too lightly-taxed and should do more to help pay for their support. The Proclamation Act prohibits colonists from crossing the Appalachian Mountains and settling in the Ohio Valley. The Currency Act prohibits colonists from coining money or issuing currency.
